We had a test group of Zoom and it was fine. Additionally, we had some management who had Slack and wanted a Slack-like experience, and Teams was a passable facsimile. We quickly began looking at Skype replacements and ultimately settled on Teams for many of the pros you mentioned a deep integration into an O365 deployment, and much cheaper licensing in our already extensive licensing relationship with Microsoft. Conference and bridge calls were basically worthless, even though Skype was meant to replace Webex. Calling to/from Skype with a standard phone number was near impossible. (We had 40,000+ users across 30 countries and 6 continents.) We had Skype for business which worked great for us with SSO but the video and voice calling was far below average, when it worked. I was in your position as a user and as part of the decision-making team.
SKYPE VS ZOOM REDDIT PRO
So, what are your thoughts? Not looking for a “go teams” or “go zoom” so much as your perceptions of each tool, experienced pro con for either and why specifically you would choose one over the other for the customer. Other cons are that they feel Teams will be difficult for external collaborators like meetings with outside customers and partners. Security, identity management and DLP controls all included.Ĭons of Teams are perception and sort of a preconceived idea that it is Skype 2.0. Pros of Teams are price per the above and also deep integration with the remainder of the M365 stack that they own already.

The E3 is more than $15 but there is a bunch more value in the sku and they would be basically paying for conferencing twice. Downside is that this perception isn’t based on any current evidence and is instead based on their prior Skype for Business experience.Ĭons of Zoom are price, at $15 per user per month it’s more expensive than Teams on their E3. Pros of Zoom are that they like it and have a perception that it is better than Teams. They look at Teams as sort of a “Skype 2.0” They don’t like it, have reliability issues with Skype and Skype mobile. The customer is M365 E3 but have Skype for Business Online deployed. I’m helping a customer choose between Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
